The documentary of late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell is reportedly in the works, with Peter Berg as its director, and Cornell’s widow Vicky and Brad Pitt, who is a close friend of the late singer, are to produce the movie. According to IMDb, the documentary titled Like A Stone is slated for a 2021 release. IMDb lists actress Drena De Niro for the role of Vicky, while actor Lauchlin MacDonald will take on the role of Chris Cornell. MacDonald’s work includes Tail Lights Fade, The Man in the High Castle and Lucy. He is also slated to play Tommy Lee in the 2024 film, Mötley Crüe: Life of a Röck Star. Although Cornell's widow Vicky had disputed the making of this film, calling it a "fake movie... part of harassment", Variety magazine had confirmed that "a rep for the Cornell estate confirmed that a doc is in the works, but offered no additional details." It's also unclear if members of Soundgarden will have any part of it, as Cornell's widow is locked in a lawsuit with the remaining members of the band over unreleased music. The charismatic Cornell, touted as one of the best voices of rock and grunge of 80s and 90s, died on May 18, 2017 in Detroit, after performing with Soundgarden earlier that day. The 52-year-old’s death was ruled a suicide, and was said to be battling depression. |
